We both had a vegetarian rijstafel (27.50 euro p.p.) and it was mostly really good. The amount was good, the vegetarian versions were very interesting and it was all very well spiced. The service was great by all the different people we had. Just small things: * There is a very boring selection of beers. A normal tap beer, a white beer, an alcohol free beer and a brown beer. No Belgian beers or IPA or something like that. * It was very noisy by big groups next to us and the acoustics is not amazing. But we loved it. You definitely need to reserve. Without a reservation in advance you have very little chance of getting a table in this popular restaurant.

We did the rice table kuning with a group of 13. We ordered in advance and they were able to take our one vegetarian into account to give them a mini vegetarian rice table. The more simple looking beef dish and the veggie tofu dish were beyond amazing. The beef was cooked to perfection while the tofu salad was so flavorful. Staff were great and desserts were lovely as well. The one thing I will say is that even the “non-spicy” dishes were pretty spicy which two people in the group couldn’t handle. I love the spice however I think to people like them, it makes the night less fulfilling.

Great Indonesian restaurant with friendly and casual service. Relatively hidden in a quaint side street, this restaurant offers dining in on 2 floors for groups or singles. A varied menu offers options for most and allergens are clearly marked. Be careful though, as depending on the menu language, allergens are not marked identically! To be recommend, especially as it has a nice decor and isn't too noisy so can fully enjoy your company.

Everything was super nice, from the food, to the service and the atmosphere. I had a nasi rames: the quality of the food was very good, as well as the taste. The quantity was generous: I was really full after the meal. Really recommended to have a nice meal in a pleasant location

Lovely place, the staff was very kind and the inside is beautifully decorated with Indonesian art and furniture. The food is delicious and every dish has a unique flavour - that still goes well with the others. I was the only vegan in my group and the server placed all the plant based dishes close to me and clearly explained which ones contained animal products and which didn't.

First of all, it is important to understand the history of Indonesian food in the Netherlands. Leading back to colonialism, Indonesian has implemented its foundation in this small country. The most famous Indonesian dish in the Netherlands is the rijsttafel. We were four people yesterday and ordered it accordingly. It was a lot! And delicious! All in all, great location in the heart of Haarlem, super friendly staff, amazing food and lovely atmosphere. 5-star rating from us!
